According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 5.1 magnitude quake occurred near Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky Wednesday evening.
It was reported that a tremor shook the area at 08:55 UTC (19:55 local time). The epicenter was located about 221 km east-southeast of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, at a depth of 10 km.

Tremors last week
19 tremors of magnitude 2.5 or greater have been reported in the region in the past week, two of them larger than magnitude 5.5. The most significant was a 6.1 magnitude earthquake registered in the same area six days earlier.
