According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 5.0 magnitude quake occurred close to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky Wednesday afternoon.

At 06:57 UTC (17:57 local time), the region was rattled by a tremor. The earthquake shook at a depth of 10 km, with its epicenter roughly 157 km southeast of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.
