Update: 5.3 magnitude earthquake detected near Izu Islands, Japan region on July 9

The U.S. Geological Survey reported that a 5.3 magnitude quake occurred close to Izu Islands Wednesday night.

The tremor, which hit the area at 12:31 UTC (21:31 local time), was centered near Izu Islands. It occurred at a depth of 10 km.
