Update: Earthquake of 5.1 magnitude registered close to Riverton, New Zealand on June 18

SOUTHLAND DISTRICT, Southland Region—A 5.1 magnitude quake was reported near Riverton Wednesday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

A tremor jolted the area at 14:51 UTC (01:51 local time). The earthquake’s epicenter was situated roughly 232 km southwest of Riverton and occurred at a depth of 10 km.
