ALMERÍA, AN — the U.S. Geological Survey reported that a 5.2 magnitude quake shook close to San José Monday morning.
At 05:13 UTC (07:13 local time), the region was struck by a tremor. The earthquake hit at a depth of 10 km, with its epicenter approximately 21 km southeast of San José.

Those who felt the quake are encouraged to report it via the USGS Felt Report form. The agency has so far received 89 reports via its online form from people who indicate they felt the tremor. According to the USGS DYFI report, moderate shaking was recorded and residents in cities such as San Miguel de Salinas, El Ejido, Vera, Cuevas del Almanzora and Mojácar reported experiencing the earthquake.
