MENDOCINO COUNTY, CA — the U.S. Geological Survey reported that a preliminary 2.1 magnitude quake struck near Lake Pillsbury Sunday morning.
A tremor shook the area at 7:44 a.m. The earthquake’s epicenter was positioned about 10 miles northwest of Lake Pillsbury and occurred at a depth of just 2 miles.

Matching magnitude tremors reported this week
During the past week, the region experienced two earthquakes stronger than magnitude 2.5, both measuring 2.9. One was centered close to Cobb two days ago, and the other occurred close to Lake Pillsbury on July 6.
