Update: Earthquake of 2.1 magnitude registered near Danville, CA on July 12

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA — the U.S. Geological Survey reported that a preliminary 2.1 magnitude quake struck close to Danville on Saturday around midnight.

The tremor shook at 12:19 a.m., with its epicenter located approximately 1 mile southeast of Danville and a depth of 5 miles.
