Update: Earthquake measuring 3.5 shakes area near Pinnacles, CA on July 12

SAN BENITO COUNTY, CA — A 3.5 magnitude quake was registered near Pinnacles Saturday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

At 1:31 a.m., the region was rattled by a tremor. The earthquake jolted at a depth of 7 miles, with its epicenter about 4 miles east of Pinnacles.

Weak shaking was detected, with reports from Carmel, Seaside and Soledad among the cities where residents experienced the earthquake, according to the USGS DYFI report.

Over the last week, there has been one quake of magnitude 2.5 centered in the area. Seven days ago, it was reported close to Pinnacles.
