Update: Earthquake measuring 3.5 shakes area near Pinnacles, CA on July 12

SAN BENITO COUNTY, CA — Saturday morning, a 3.5 magnitude quake was recorded close to Pinnacles, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

It was reported that a tremor jolted the region at 1:31 a.m. The epicenter was located roughly 4 miles east of Pinnacles, at a depth of 7 miles.

Those who experienced the earthquake are encouraged to report it through the USGS Felt Report form. So far, the agency has collected 17 online responses from individuals reporting that they felt the quake. According to the USGS DYFI report, weak shaking was recorded and people in multiple cities—including Carmel, Seaside and Soledad—reported feeling the tremor.
