Update: Earthquake of 2.3 magnitude detected near Borrego Springs, CA on July 11

SAN DIEGO COUNTY, CA — Friday morning, a preliminary 2.3 magnitude quake was reported near Borrego Springs, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor, which struck the area at 6:39 a.m., was centered approximately 10 miles northeast of Borrego Springs. It occurred at a depth of 7 miles.
