Update: Earthquake rattles region close to Petrolia, CA on July 11 – 3.4 magnitude detected

HUMBOLDT COUNTY, CA — According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a preliminary 3.4 magnitude quake occurred close to Petrolia Friday morning.

The tremor shook the area at 8:06 a.m. (7:06 a.m. local time). It occurred at a depth of 7 miles with the epicenter situated about 34 miles west-northwest of Petrolia.
