Update: Earthquake measuring 5.8 jolts area near Yilan, Taiwan on May 1

A 5.8 magnitude quake hit near Yilan on Friday evening, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor struck at 12:39 UTC (20:39 local time), with its epicenter roughly 32 km east-northeast of Yilan and a depth of 103 km.
