SARMI REGENCY, Papua — A 5.7 magnitude quake shook near Abepura on Wednesday morning, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

A tremor hit the region at 00:04 UTC (09:04 local time). The earthquake’s epicenter was about 163 km west-southwest of Abepura and occurred at a depth of 66 km. Seismologists first reported it as a 5.6 event, but later upgraded it to 5.7.
