A 5.6 magnitude quake jolted close to Ternate on Friday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

A tremor struck the area at 00:22 UTC (09:22 local time). The earthquake’s epicenter was about 122 km west-northwest of Ternate and occurred at a depth of 35 km. The magnitude was originally reported as 5.4 but later upgraded to 5.6.
