MARE, Loyalty Islands Province — the U.S. Geological Survey reported that a 5.3 magnitude quake occurred close to Tadine Tuesday afternoon.

The tremor shook at 04:39 UTC (15:39 local time), with its epicenter situated about 250 km east-southeast of Tadine and a depth of 10 km.

Tremors last week

Last week, three tremors of magnitude 2.5 or above have been registered in the region. The biggest, a 6.0 magnitude quake, was recorded in the same region one day ago.
