Update: 5.2 magnitude earthquake recorded near Severo-Kuril’sk, Russia on Aug. 12

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 5.2 magnitude quake struck near Severo-Kuril’sk Tuesday morning.

A tremor shook the area at 20:24 UTC (07:24 local time). The earthquake’s epicenter was located approximately 219 km east-southeast of Severo-Kuril’sk and occurred at a depth of 10 km.
