A 5.1 magnitude quake struck close to Lapuan on Thursday afternoon, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The tremor hit at 09:22 UTC (17:22 local time), with its epicenter roughly 22 km east-northeast of Lapuan and a depth of 91 km.

Past week’s quakes

In the past week, there have been two earthquakes greater than magnitude 2.5 in the region. The largest, a 4.6 magnitude tremor, was recorded close to Caburan on Aug. 8, while a smaller 4.4 magnitude quake shook near Pondaguitan on Aug. 12.
