A 5.0 magnitude quake shook close to South Sandwich Islands region on Sunday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

At 03:55 UTC (01:55 local time), a tremor hit the area at a depth of 142 km, with its epicenter of South Sandwich Islands region. Seismologists first reported it as a 5.1 event, but later downgraded it to 5.0.
