5.0 magnitude earthquake strikes close to Hachinohe, Japan on Jan. 16

Friday morning, a 5.0 magnitude quake was detected near Hachinohe, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

It was reported that a tremor rattled the region at 19:36 UTC (05:36 local time). The epicenter was situated about 120 km east-northeast of Hachinohe, at a depth of 53 km.
