Update: Earthquake strikes region near Rabaul, Papua New Guinea on Nov. 1 – 5.0 magnitude detected

Saturday evening, a 5.0 magnitude quake was registered close to Rabaul, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

A tremor jolted the area at 09:50 UTC (19:50 local time). The earthquake’s epicenter was located about 89 km west-northwest of Rabaul and occurred at a depth of 10 km.
