5.0 magnitude earthquake shakes close to Chayek, Kyrgyzstan on Aug. 12

KOCHKOR DISTRICT, Naryn Region — A 5.0 magnitude quake occurred near Chayek around midday Wednesday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor hit at 07:14 UTC (13:14 local time), with its epicenter roughly 66 km east of Chayek and a depth of 10 km.
