Update: Earthquake measuring 5.0 rattles area close to Sangay, Philippines on Jan. 28

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 5.0 magnitude quake struck near Sangay Wednesday morning.

It was reported that a tremor hit the region at 23:43 UTC (07:43 local time). The epicenter was located approximately 30 km west-southwest of Sangay, at a depth of 10 km.

Tremors last week

Over the last week, 22 tremors of magnitude 2.5 or greater have been reported in the area, three of them larger than magnitude 5.5. The largest one was a 5.9 earthquake that hit the same region prior to this quake.
