Update: Earthquake measuring 5.0 shakes area near Severo-Kuril’sk, Russia on July 30

The U.S. Geological Survey reported that a 5.0 magnitude quake rattled near Severo-Kuril’sk on Wednesday around midday.

The tremor struck at 00:22 UTC (11:22 local time), with its epicenter located roughly 101 km east-southeast of Severo-Kuril’sk and a depth of 35 km.
