Update: Seismic activity on Feb. 16 – 5.0 magnitude earthquake near Calama, Chile detected

EL LOA, Antofagasta — the U.S. Geological Survey reported that a 5.0 magnitude quake jolted close to Calama Monday afternoon.

At 21:24 UTC (18:24 local time), the region was shaken by a tremor. The earthquake rattled at a depth of 103 km, with its epicenter approximately 29 km north-northwest of Calama.
