The National Weather Service issued an updated fire weather watch at 6:33 p.m. on Wednesday valid for Friday between 5 a.m. and 5 p.m. for Yuma County.

The NWS states that the warning was issued for wind and low relative humidity. Winds are forecasted to be northwest 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 45 mph Thursday and northwest winds 30-40 mph with gusts up to 70 mph Friday and relative humidity as low as 14 percent.

“Unpredictable fire behavior. Any fires that develop may rapidly grow and spread out of control,” says the NWS.

According to the NWS, a fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions are possible. Listen for later forecasts and possible red flag warnings.
