The Chippewa Steel faced the Anchorage Wolverines in a game on Friday, April 10, 2025.
It was a draw at full-time and not even overtime could separate the two. It took penalties to decide the tie, where in the end the team was crowned winner as the game finished 6-5.
Anchorage’s Jason Bourdukofsky scored the game-winning goal.
The Steel took the lead early in the first period, with a goal from Jackson Lackas. Connor Jalbert and Colton Mauser assisted.
The Steel’s Patrick Vogl increased the lead to 2-0 late in the first, assisted by Ryder Mcintosh and Matic Percic.
The Steel’s Connor Jalbert made it 3-0 late in the first, assisted by Zach Sondreal and Colton Mauser.
The Wolverines narrowed the gap to 3-1 with a minute left in the first when Taisetsu Ushio scored, assisted by Cole Christian and Duke Gentzler.
The Steel scored two goals in second period an held the lead 5-2 going in to the second break.
Daniel Bagnole narrowed the gap to 5-3 with a goal early in the third period, assisted by Jack Darby and Drew Nelson.
The Wolverines narrowed the gap again with a goal from Taisetsu Ushio, assisted by Brock Devlin and Duke Gentzler at 8:09 into the third period.
Cole Frawner also tied it up 5-5 with a goal only seconds later, assisted by Jakub Bednarik and Romulus Riego De Dios.
The Wolverines won the game 6-5 in the shootout. Jason Bourdukofsky provided the decisive penalty shot.
This makes an impressive five straight victories for the Wolverines.
