On Thursday at 9:48 a.m. a special weather statement was issued by the National Weather Service until 2 p.m. for Alamosa Vicinity/Central San Luis Valley below 8,500 ft and Southern San Luis Valley.

“Areas of blowing dust will imapct the San Luis Valley into this afternoon. West-southwest winds gusting in excess of 50 mph are leading to areas of blowing dust. Those traveling on Highways 160, 285, and Colorado Highways 17 and 159 could see reduced visibilities and hazardous travel conditions,” states the NWS.
