Weather alert for Yuma County Sunday afternoon

On Sunday at 1:49 p.m. the National Weather Service released a special weather statement until 3:45 p.m. for Yuma County.

“At 1:47 p.m., conditions are becoming favorable for the development of landspout tornadoes in and close to a frontal zone draped from near Cope to Alvin in Colorado. However, at this time it is unknown which if any storm would produce a landspout. Any tornadoes which develop are expected to pose a limited threat,” states the NWS.

Locations impacted by the alert include Yuma, Wray, Eckley, Abarr, Wauneta, Joes and Heartstrong.
