Weather alert affecting Texas Panhandle until 3 a.m. Wednesday

At 12:23 a.m. on Wednesday, the National Weather Service issued a special weather statement until 3 a.m. The alert is for Palo Duro Canyon as well as Lipscomb, Hutchinson, Roberts, Hemphill, Oldham, Potter, Carson, Gray, Wheeler, Deaf Smith, Randall and Armstrong counties.

“Isolated to scattered storms will be capable of producing lightning and damaging winds intermediately for the next few hours, at least until 3 a.m. Wind gusts up between 40 and 55 mph are expected with rare instances of gusts up to 70 mph possible,” states the NWS.
