A 5.1 magnitude quake was recorded close to the South Sandwich Islands Friday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor, which shook the area at 10:21 UTC (09:21 local time), was centered east of the South Sandwich Islands. It occurred at a depth of 10 km.
