Update: Seismic activity on July 15 – 5.2 magnitude earthquake near Tari, Papua New Guinea registered

MIDDLE FLY DISTRICT, Western Province — According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 5.2 magnitude quake hit close to Tari Tuesday morning.

The tremor shook the area at 21:16 UTC (07:16 local time). It occurred at a depth of 10 km with the epicenter situated about 70 km west-southwest of Tari. Seismologists first reported it as a 5.0 event, but later upgraded it to 5.2.
