The U.S. Geological Survey reported that a 5.1 magnitude quake occurred close to Vilyuchinsk Friday morning.
A tremor jolted the area at 15:57 UTC (02:57 local time). The earthquake’s epicenter was situated roughly 197 km south-southeast of Vilyuchinsk and occurred at a depth of 10 km. Seismologists first reported it as a 4.9 event, but later upgraded it to 5.1.
