Update: July 20 – 6.2 magnitude earthquake detected near Sand Point, AK

ALEUTIANS EAST BOROUGH, AK—A 6.2 magnitude quake was registered near Sand Point Sunday afternoon, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

A tremor struck the area at 10:28 p.m. (2:28 p.m. local time). The earthquake’s epicenter was situated about 50 miles south-southeast of Sand Point and occurred at a depth of 29 miles.
