Update: July 12 – 2.6 magnitude earthquake registered close to Ocotillo, CA

IMPERIAL COUNTY, CA — A 2.6 magnitude quake was detected close to Ocotillo Saturday evening, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

At 7:32 p.m., the region was rattled by a tremor. The earthquake shook at a depth of just 3 miles, with its epicenter about 11 miles east-northeast of Ocotillo.

Earthquakes last week

During the past week, six tremors with a magnitude 2.5 or greater have been recorded in the area. The strongest, a 4.3 magnitude quake, hit close to Calipatria two days earlier.
