SONOMA COUNTY, CA — According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a preliminary 2.9 magnitude quake shook close to Cobb Thursday night.

The tremor rattled at 10:46 p.m., with its epicenter positioned about 4 miles west-northwest of Cobb and a depth of just 1 mile.

The agency has so far received 6 reports via its online form from people who say they experienced the quake. Weak shaking was observed in Middletown, where residents reported feeling the tremor, according to the USGS DYFI report.

Past week’s quake

Over the last week, a magnitude 2.5 quake was reported in the area, with the event occurring near Lake Pillsbury four days ago.
