An updated red flag warning was issued by the National Weather Service on Tuesday at 5:56 a.m. valid between 11 a.m. and 10 p.m. The warning is for Fisher, Nolan, Sterling, Coke, Runnels, Irion, Tom Green, Concho, Crockett, Haskell, Throckmorton, Jones, Shackelford, Taylor, Callahan, Coleman and Brown counties.

Expect winds to be southwest 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph and relative humidity as low as 8 percent.

“Any fire that develops will catch and spread quickly. Outdoor burning is not recommended,” says the NWS.

4. Never leave fires unattended:

Avoid leaving any fire unattended. Even sparks or embers carried by the wind can ignite nearby leaves or grass, triggering a fire that spreads rapidly.
