Update: Earthquake measuring 5.2 jolts area close to Sand Point, AK on July 17

ALEUTIANS EAST BOROUGH, AK—A 5.2 magnitude quake was registered near Sand Point Thursday afternoon, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The tremor hit at 1:12 a.m. (2:12 p.m. local time), with its epicenter situated about 53 miles south of Sand Point and a depth of 22 miles.
