The National Weather Service released an updated dust advisory at 3:12 p.m. on Saturday in effect until 4:15 p.m. for El Paso County.
“At 3:11 p.m., a dust plume was over East El Paso, moving east at 25 mph,” according to the NWS. “This includes Interstate 10 in Texas between mile markers 1 and 61.”
Locations impacted by the advisory include Tornillo, Homestead Meadows, Vinton, Agua Dulce, Biggs Field, Dairyland, Indian Cliffs Ranch, East El Paso, Franklin Mountains State Park, West El Paso, Canutillo, Fabens, Westway, Fort Bliss, Santa Teresa, Anthony, Clint, Butterfield, Mission Valley and Hueco Mountain Estates.
“Hazardous travel,” states the NWS. “Blowing dust brings reduced visibility, leading to dangerous driving conditions. If driving, avoid blowing dust if possible. If caught in dense blowing dust, pull off the road, turn off your lights and keep your foot off the brake. Motorists should not drive into an area of blowing dust. Pull aside stay alive!”
