ALEUTIANS WEST CENSUS AREA, AK — According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 5.1 magnitude quake occurred close to Adak Friday night.
A tremor hit the area at 9:14 a.m. (9:14 p.m. local time). The earthquake’s epicenter was located approximately 163 miles west of Adak and occurred at a depth of 51 miles. The magnitude was originally reported as 5.5 but later downgraded to 5.1.
