Update: 6.1 magnitude earthquake reported close to Sand Point, AK on July 20

ALEUTIANS EAST BOROUGH, AK—A 6.1 magnitude quake was registered near Sand Point around midday Sunday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor, which slammed the area at 10:27 p.m. (11:27 a.m. local time), was centered approximately 74 miles south-southeast of Sand Point. It occurred at a depth of 34 miles.
