Update: 5.0 magnitude earthquake strikes close to Mianzhu, Deyang, Sichuan, China on July 5

A 5.0 magnitude quake rattled near Mianzhu, Deyang, Sichuan on Sunday night, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The USGS reported a tremor in the region at 15:30 UTC (23:30 local time). The epicenter was roughly 30 km north-northwest of Mianzhu, Deyang, Sichuan, at a depth of 10 km.

Several residents reported experiencing the quake in and around the Chengdu area according to the USGS DYFI report.

Last week’s tremor

One more earthquake with a magnitude 4.9 was detected in the area. It was also reported near Mianzhu, Deyang, Sichuan prior to this quake.
