According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 5.0 magnitude quake occurred near Kirakira Monday evening.

The tremor, which jolted the area at 09:10 UTC (20:10 local time), was centered roughly 75 km west-northwest of Kirakira. It occurred at a depth of 108 km. The magnitude was originally reported as 4.9 but later upgraded to 5.0.
