On Monday at 6:53 p.m. an updated fire weather watch was released by the National Weather Service valid for Wednesday between noon and 7 p.m. for Teller County/Rampart Range including Pikes Peak and Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument and Fremont County including Canon City/Howard/Texas Creek.

Residents can expect winds to be southwest 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph on Wednesday and relative humidity as low as 12%.

“Fires will catch and spread quickly. Exercise extreme caution and avoid any outdoor burning,” comments the NWS.

A fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions are possible. Listen for later forecasts and possible red flag warnings.
