The National Weather Service issued a red flag warning at 1:36 a.m. on Tuesday valid between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. for Teller County/Rampart Range including Pikes Peak and Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument and Northern El Paso County including Monument and Black Forest.

Expect winds to be west 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 50 mph in and near the mountains with gusts up to 35 mph across northern El Paso County and relative humidity as low as 10 percent.

“Elevated fire danger is expected. Fires will catch and spread rapidly and erratically,” explains the NWS.
