At 2:03 p.m. on Sunday, the National Weather Service issued an updated fire weather watch valid for Tuesday between noon and 7 p.m. for Crowley County including Ordway, Kiowa County including Eads, Bent County including Las Animas, Prowers County including Lamar and Baca County including Springfield and Eastern Comanche Grasslands.

Winds are expected to be southwest 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 55 mph and relative humidity as low as 11 percent.

“Fires will catch and spread quickly. Exercise extreme caution with any outdoor burning,” says the NWS.

A fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions are possible. Listen for later forecasts and possible red flag warnings.
