Donyell Malen increased Aston Villa’s lead in the 79th minute.
Aston Villa further increased the lead as John McGinn found the net in the 90th minute.
The game was the eighth in a row without a win for Southampton.
It leaves Aston Villa in fifth place and that Southampton are in 20th and last place.
The previous meeting between the teams ended in a 1-0 home win for Aston Villa in December.
