Seismic activity on Nov. 2: Earthquake close to Abepura, Indonesia reported – magnitude 5.2

SARMI REGENCY, Papua — A 5.2 magnitude quake was registered near Abepura Sunday evening, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

A tremor shook the area at 11:15 UTC (20:15 local time). The earthquake’s epicenter was located about 185 km west-northwest of Abepura and occurred at a depth of 35 km.

Closeby region shaken by two tremors over the week

Over the past week, there have been two earthquakes exceeding magnitude 2.5 centered in the same area. The largest, a 4.9 magnitude earthquake, rattled one day ago, while the other, measuring 4.8, occurred on October 30.
