Update: June 22 – 5.1 magnitude earthquake reported close to Jurm, Afghanistan

JURM, Badakhshan — A 5.1 magnitude quake shook close to Jurm on Monday afternoon, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor hit the area at 10:22 UTC (14:52 local time). It occurred at a depth of 219 km with the epicenter approximately 38 km south-southwest of Jurm. Seismologists first reported it as a 5.2 event, but later downgraded it to 5.1.
