Update: Earthquake measuring 5.0 hits area near Vilyuchinsk, Russia on July 30

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 5.0 magnitude quake rattled near Vilyuchinsk at midday on Wednesday.

It was reported that a tremor shook the region at 02:25 UTC (13:25 local time). The epicenter was situated approximately 108 km south-southeast of Vilyuchinsk, at a depth of 35 km. Seismologists first reported it as a 5.1 event, but later downgraded it to 5.0.
