Seismic activity on July 15: Earthquake close to Kiunga, Papua New Guinea reported – magnitude 5.0

MIDDLE FLY DISTRICT, Western Province — According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 5.0 magnitude quake occurred near Kiunga Tuesday morning.

It was reported that a tremor rattled the region at 21:17 UTC (07:17 local time). The epicenter was situated about 96 km east of Kiunga, at a depth of 60 km.
